Itinerary

Arrive Siem Reap by flight, Siem Reap – Treasures of the Kingdom of Cambodia, special welcome all warmly to everybody, a moment of courtesy meeting then self-introduce with our Cambodian tour guide in the meeting point's Siem Reap airport. Meet our representative and transfer to our hotel. The balance of the day free for your own times.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

After breakfast, we hop on our bike head to the ancient city of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the great Khmer empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII, surrounded by an 8 meter high wall that creates a perfect location. Cross the embankment of the moat, flanked on both sides by a series of 54 deities and demons, each holding a sacred naga snake, and an impressive entrance gate adorned with three-headed elephants and four smiling faces of the Buddha is covered. Continue to Bayon Temple. At the exact center of Angkor Thom, this is an eccentric expression of the creative genius and inflated ego of Cambodia’s most celebrated king. Its 54 towers are each topped off with the four faces of Avalokiteshvara (Buddha of Compassion), which bear more than a passing resemblance to the king himself.

We venture into the Mother of all temples, Angkor Wat. Believed to be the world's largest religious building, this temple is the perfect fusion of symbolism and symmetry and a source of pride and strength to all Khmers.

Alternatively we can arrange for you to get around by tuk tuk as this is a fun mode of transport that the children will enjoy.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

After breakfast, we continue to the Banteay Srei Butterfly Centre where it is possible to see the lifecycle of these arthropods from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. Stop at a traditional sugar palm village to learn about the production of palm sugar and palm wine. We head further out through rural countryside to the small but beautiful temple of Banteay Srei. This temple is largely built of pink sandstone, a harder rock that can be more elaborately carved and better survives the rigors of time. We continue to explore Ta Prohm `Tomb Raider` fame. Ta Prohm has been abandoned to the elements, a reminder that while empires rise and fall, the riotous power of nature marches on, oblivious to the dramas of human history. Left as it was ‘discovered’ by French explorer Henri Mouhout in 1860, the tentacle-like tree roots here are slowly strangling the surviving stones, man first conquering nature to create, nature later conquering man to destroy. We back to hotel to relax or if you wish to continue to visit other temple our guide will recommend you.

In the evening prepare for a special treat and visit Phare Ponleu Selpak. Phare is a social center and arts school that started in Battambang. The organization offers Cambodian youth a way out of poverty through arts. One of these projects is the Circus.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

We continue to have a boat trip to enjoy the beautiful lake view and mangrove forest on the lake, then spend rest of the morning at the largest village on the lake to discover the fascinating daily lives of the local people who leave on the water. We will go to local pagoda, where you should change to clothes we can get wet in as here we will experience the ceremony “Srouch Teok”, which roughly translates into “Water blessing”. A monk will chant in ancient Pali as he splashes water over us, washing away our sins and bad luck so we can start fresh and by being a good person can increase our good luck.

In the afternoon, we go beyond the temple area to explore the real countryside for sunset in quad bike. A fun way to admire in the places, the sounds and the smells of the countryside, watching the villages, the rice fields, the wet area.
